First things first: happy late Pico Day everyone! I’m officially home from an amazing weekend in the east coast, and I wanted to write a little something.
I was super lucky to be able to attend the Pico Day NJ meetup this year, and I just have to say: wow. Just wow. This was my first NG meetup, and it was 100% worth it. Meeting my longtime friends, some of my NG heroes, and getting to know some new faces in a community I love was an experience like no other. Seeing a bunch of awesome cartoons on the big screen as well just being around so many creative people was immensely inspiring to say the least. A huge thanks to both @BrandyBuizel and @coby for putting the whole event together. I collected all of the signatures I could on my alien hominid figurine, and got all of these awesome doodles in my sketchbook! Thank you to everyone who signed/drew something-
Next: another (absolutely MASSIVE) shoutout to @coby for bringing the first ever NG Trading Cards to life! As soon I was able to confirm I was going, I presented the discord server with a silly idea I had: trading cards designed by the attendees. He showed interest in the idea and not only did he make it an official part of the event, but he also helped rough out a layout, worked out logistics, and printed and packed around 4000 cards! Truthfully a fucking legend, the entire thing wouldn’t have happened without him. Greeting people and selling the extra packs with him was super fun too-
I also want to shoutout @MrShmoods for printing, cutting, and distributing the “bootleg” cards! He worked down to the WIRE to make it happen, and they turned out awesome! Hanging out with him while we did the cards was great-
Overall there was over 100 designs to collect, which is absolutely CRAZY to me. The fact that so many people were inspired by the concept absolutely blows me away, and I’m glad people were so into it! @Ant achieved the almost impossible and obtained the full set, which is pictured here, as well as the cards i managed to get!
I’m a FIEND for stickers and silly items, and I got as many different ones as I could find. It was insane the sheer number of different designs there were and I can’t wait to use them!
I also got to meet a good chunk of the crew for the upcoming Randy sequel “Randy learns History”! It was great meeting you all and giving everyone their matching pins :) (pictured from left to right: @Dungeonation, @MisterMantid, @CaptainStevie, and me!)
Lastly: I did make a couple things for the meetup, those being a trading card and a sticker! You can check them both out here:
In conclusion: though I was (once again) unable to make a piece for pico day; this is definitely the best one I’ve had and for sure a day I’ll remember. This community and the people within it have and continue to inspire me; I love being here and I’m so glad I joined. Thank you. All of you.
